What do they do?

Andy Meeke looks after the Black Beef Dexter herd barely 7 miles away from Indie Fude, in Saintfield. The herd are lucky to have Rowallane Garden in Saintfield as their home. The Black Beef Dexter herd is farmed using traditional methods. This slow growing breed is originally from the South West of Ireland so well used to our climate; allowing them to spend their year out at grass - as cattle should be. The resulting meat is truly superb. There is a marked increase to the quality and the flavour because they haven’t been forced to bulk up quickly like intensely reared animals.

Why do we love them?

Laura is lucky enough to see the Black Beef Dexter herd daily, and can attest to their ‘happy lives’. Laura is passionate about animal welfare, and the resulting high quality produce. Black Beef Dexter is the perfect example of ‘Field to Fork’ done right.
