Dunmanus is a semi-hard version of Durrus which has been matured for around 3 months.

When Jeffa Gill began making cheese on her farm in 1979, she started it as part of her pioneering spirit to provide for her family from her own small holding in West Cork and to capture something of the beauty of the area in her unique hand-crafted cheeses.

Today, more than 37 years later, her cheeses are still made by hand using traditional techniques on her farm in the beautiful valley of Coomkeen just beyond Durrus village in West Cork. They are a small family business dedicated to producing the highest quality product while staying true to the principles from which they were founded…which were sustainability, quality and enjoying the work that they do.

Dunmanus is nutty, salty with the addition of a boozy rind as the rind washed Durrus matures past 3 months. In terms of wine matches pair it with full bodied whites such as Albarino, Gewurztraminer or lighter reds such as Beaujolais. Throw in some crackers and chutney and you have yourself the perfect night in!

Your Dunmanus will be wrapped in waxed paper, and packed for delivery in our eco-friendly Woolcool pouch, guaranteeing a constant temperature for up to 72 hours. The price of the Woolcool pouch is £3.95 which will be added at checkout. Please select a delivery day Wednesday-Friday as we prefer not to ship chilled orders after Wednesday (Mainland UK) or Thursday (NI/ROI) as delays will mean the goods will sit in the couriers warehouse over the weekend and probably spoil.
