The Proper Chocolate Company have done it again with this delicious bar made from 70% dark chocolate with toasted coconut. This bar uses sustainably sourced cocoa beans from the Dominican Republic, known for their rich, fruity flavour with low acidity and bitterness.
The Proper Chocolate Company is the creation of Dublin couple Patrick and Kelli Marjolet. Their journey with chocolate began while living in San Francisco in 2013. Patrick was gifted a bag of un-roasted cocoa beans from a local roasters. He decided to use them to make his own chocolate and with that a passion was born.
Three years later, Patrick and Kelli returned to Dublin and started The Proper Chocolate Company. They have a strong belief that the best cocoa beans are those grown with love and passion which means means treating growers fairly. All their beans have been sustainably sources from fair trade producers.
The beans used in this bar are from Dominican producer ‘Oko-Caribe‘. The company has gained international recognition for their fair trade practices and the lengths they go to to support their workers. By working directly with chocolate makers, Oko-Caribe can sell their beans at 32% above market value, allowing them to pay their growers a truly fair and livable wage.
This 70% dark chocolate bar with toasted coconut is truly delicious with the fruity notes of the chocolate being perfectly balanced by the sweetness of the coconut. Kick back with a cup of Suki tea and enjoy!
