Dart Mountain Dusk is a 4 month old, ash coated, alpine style cheese made in The Sperrins by Julie & Kevin Hickey. The cheese is named after Dart Mountain that surrounds The Hickey’s home, and also the distinctive black coating on the rind from the natural ash.
In 2008, Julie, a former chef and restaurant owner, began to develop an interest in cheese and began attending artisan cheese making courses. Two years later Tamnagh Foods was born and they have been producing and maturing cheese in their converted barn ever since.
Julie’s aim was to produce a cheese that was truly representative of the surrounding countryside and which gave the best taste and flavour. We think they have achieved just that!
