Kilcreen is a young Comté style cheese made in The Sperrins by Julie & Kevin Hickey of Tamnagh Foods.
In 2008, Julie, a former chef and restaurant owner, began to develop an interest in cheese and began attending artisan cheese making courses. Two years later Tamnagh Foods was born and they have been producing and maturing cheese in their converted barn ever since.
Julie’s aim was to produce a cheese that was truly representative of the surrounding countryside and which gave the best taste and flavour. We think they have achieved just that!
Kilcreen won a Great Taste Gold Medal in 2015 and it’s easy to see why! Semi-firm to the bite, fruity and nutty, and wonderful with a light red wine or a crisp white like Sauvignon Blanc and a sweet chutney.
