Tirkeeran cheese is a young parmesan style cheese made in The Sperrins in Derry/Londonderry, by Julie & Kevin Hickey of Tamnagh Foods. It is long aged and extra hard making it perfect for shaving over a salad or pasta.
In 2008, Julie, a former chef and restaurant owner, began to develop an interest in cheese and began attending artisan cheese making courses. Two years later Tamnagh Foods was born and they have been producing and maturing cheese in their converted barn ever since.
Julie’s aim was to produce a cheese that was truly representative of the surrounding countryside and which gave the best taste and flavour. We think they have achieved just that!
