Tirkeeran cheese is a young parmesan style cheese made in The Sperrins in Derry/Londonderry, by Julie & Kevin Hickey of Tamnagh Foods. It is long aged and extra hard making it perfect for shaving over a salad or pasta.

In 2008, Julie, a former chef and restaurant owner, began to develop an interest in cheese and began attending artisan cheese making courses. Two years later Tamnagh Foods was born and they have been producing and maturing cheese in their converted barn ever since.

Julie’s aim was to produce a cheese that was truly representative of the surrounding countryside and which gave the best taste and flavour. We think they have achieved just that!

Use your Tirkeeran cheese in the way you would parmesan – shave it over a salad or pasta. Better yet, for a quick weeknight meal, shave it over a Ballyhoura Mountain Mushroom Risotto Mix for an all Irish take on the Italian classic.

Your Tirkeeran comes individually wrapped and packed for delivery in our eco-friendly Woolcool pouch, guaranteeing a constant temperature for up to 72 hours. The price of the Woolcool pouch is £3.95 which will be added at checkout. Please select a delivery day Wednesday-Friday as we prefer not to ship chilled orders after Wednesday (Mainland UK) or Thursday (NI/ROI) as delays will mean the goods will sit in the couriers warehouse over the weekend and probably spoil.

Fabulous selection of local products. Great staff who took the time to be really helpful, and offered tasting of the produce. Nothing was too much trouble. Great range of products – wish I had had more time to browse. I can’t wait to return.
